The focus of the third international conference on “efficiency, sustainable business and sustainable economic development” is on issues of economic and behavioural efficiency in a multilevel context. An important issue in this discussion is what measure of efficiency should be used, as different measures of efficiency (related to different goals of different stakeholders) have serious implications for management and policy measures.
The aim of the conference is to relate theoretical considerations with practice. We invite scholars and practitioners from different fields involved in the issue to present their ideas and research on issues of measurement, instruments and determinants of efficiency in the context of sustainable business and sustainable economic development.

  • Determinants of efficiency, different measures of economic and behavioral efficiency at the enterprise level, measures of economic efficiency, and instruments for increasing efficiency at the enterprise level.
  • Economic and social efficiency regarding supply chain management, sustainable energy supply and transport systems in the context of positive and negative externalities.
  • Social and environmental efficiency, e.g., trade-offs and synergy effects between efficiency and corporate social responsibility, efficiency of the creation of human capital and human capabilities.
  • Institutional efficiency, e.g., in the context of economic development and transitions in economic systems or in finance and banking as a condition for efficiency in other areas, as well as assessment of different economic systems in a comparative perspective.

Papers, after positive review, are considered for publication in Management of Environmental Quality (9 points), The Wroclaw School of Banking Research Journal (6 points) or the Central and Eastern European Journal of Management and Economics.

Scholars wishing to give a presentation at the conference are kindly asked to submit an abstract of their paper in advance. The abstract should be written in English and should point out the general interest of the paper to be presented touching the above named issues. The abstract should include the following details: (1) title of the presentation, (2) name of the authors, organization, email-address, mailing address, phone number, (3) keywords, (4) body text (max. 250 words).
