WSB University in Gdańsk - 1-year course of English
 

  • Get ready for your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in English

Duration: October - June (280 hours)

Tuition fee: 1 800 € (inclusive of all course materials and certification fees)

Option 1: A2 Pre-Intermediate – leading to a B1 level, and

  • LCCI English for Business Preliminary – a globally recognized British language qualification

Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • understand and talk to people communicating on familiar matters concerning work, school, leisure, etc.
  • deal with most situations related to living and traveling
  • describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions
  • briefly explain and give reasons for opinions and plans
  • read and produce texts on topics that are familiar or of personal interest
  • write simple formal letters and memos

Option 2: B1 Intermediateprogress toward a B2 level, and

  • LCCI English for Business Level 1 examination a globally recognized British language qualification

Course objectives
On completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • understand fluent, colloquial speech and talk about on most common issues
  • communicate in a variety of contexts, including business and work, e.g. give and clarify opinions, argue a point for and against an idea or solution, describe the advantages and disadvantages, etc.
  • understand most written information relating to a familiar area and grasp the message of extended, complex text, including business news and data
  • produce coherent written forms on a range of subjects, including business topics

As an academic outcome, you will demonstrate the requisite speaking and writing skills to successfully take the LCCI English for Business examination. LCCI Level 1 makes you eligible for a degree program at the WSB University.

Content structure

  • grammar – 80 hrs
  • vocabulary  – 50 hrs
  • communicative functions – 30 hrs
  • pronunciation – 10 hrs
  • reading tasks including LCCI preparation – 40 hrs
  • writing tasks including LCCI preparation – 40 hrs
  • elements of Polish history and culture – 10 hrs

Delivery method
Both the course and the exam are held on the WSB Gdansk campus. Classes are taught by the University’s top-notch language trainers. Groups are composed of 6 to 12 attendees, and classes are scheduled over 3 days in a week on average, in the morning or in the afternoon. A minimum of 6 attendees is required to form a course group.

How to sign up

  • Step 1: Submit your personal data questionnaire, along with a statement of your level of English
  • A proficiency certificate is preferred. If you cannot present one, you need to at least indicate your level prior to arrival, and then take our placement test in your first class. Either way, you will be assigned to a group that matches your skill level.
  • Step 2: Make payment for the course
  • Step 3: Apply for your visa against documents supplied by the WSB University in Gdansk
  • Step 4: Forward your visa confirmation to the WSB University in Gdansk
  • Step 5: Make your travel arrangements with the WSB University to ensure your timely arrival in Gdansk

Your visa will be issued against the certificate provided by the WSB University stating a requirement to attend a one-year English language course prior to taking a degree program
