Erasmus Policy Statement

Strategy and objectives

WSB aims to constantly improve the quality of education. One of the methods to accomplish that aim is to increase the degree of internationalization of studies. It is understood as the enhancement of the exchange of students and teachers with our partner institutions, as well as a gradual improvement of our own educational offer delivered in English. WSB aims to provide courses in English as the language of instruction, at least for full-time students, in first cycle (Bachelor's) and second cycle (Master's) modes thereby wishing to develop its potential to receive students from abroad.. At the same time WSB will take any action targeted at enabling its students to take advantage of the possibilities of studies at partner institutions.

As far as teacher exchange is concerned, WSB will take measures in order to intensify teacher mobility. WSB wants to be perceived as an institution open to the world. This should encourage the teachers from partner institutions to deliver lectures at WSB. All of WSB activities will be in accordance with the recommendations of the Bologna Declaration. WSB  plans to accomplish a number of objectives in the years to come. Among them are:

  • extending the offer of study programs at partner institutions,
  • extending an offer of programs delivered in English
  • increasing the number of international teaching staff,
  • increasing student, teacher and administrative staff participation in international decentralized programs,
  • development of cooperation with partner institutions ,
  • reinforcement of teaching staff by employing new teachers from partner institutions in order to improve the learning offer of programs delivered in English.

To promote the Erasmus+ Program and the program of student work placements WSB runs an information campaign for students, teachers and administrative staff by: providing regular information on the program in the University’s mass media (Intranet, Extranet, WSB homepage, Facebook), publication of articles promoting mobility in the student magazine, info meetings.

Quality of academic mobility activities

In order to make the academic mobility activities more efficient and to ensure their high quality WSB has established a list of recruitment criteria according to which the applicants are assessed. The places in partner institutions are awarded to students on the basis of the total score obtained for:

  • foreign language proficiency,
  • assessment of learning achievements (arithmetic mean of student's grades),
  • interview with the University’s Recruitment Committee consisting of Erasmus Coordinator and International Relations Officer.

Other measures taken to ensure high quality of applicants are: publication of the recruitment results and reserve list in WSB’s mass media. In the event of not meeting the requirements by the applicants or too small a number of applicants a new recruitment process is planned. Students qualified to study at partner institutions are exempted from tuition fee for their study period abroad.. The University has implemented an ECTS credit transfer system as a means of academic results recognition. WSB issues a Diploma Supplement. WSB promotes among the students the extension of study period at partner institutions and obtaining additional diplomas. Teachers apply for participation in the program according to a different procedure.

Student mobility includes also the incoming students. In order to encourage foreign students to study at WSB, the University offers the following services: orientation days upon their arrival in Poznan, an adequate study program, the possibility of obtaining an adequate number of ECTS credits required to complete a semester, assistance in finding accommodation, organizational assistance (buddy system), info guide, intercultural workshops, Polish language course, International Day, tours.

Quality of student placement activities

Work placement is an integral part of the study program. The deans of all three WSB Faculties recognize the work placement abroad as the fulfilment of the requirements of the study program. Experience acquired in a foreign company undoubtedly improves the adaptability of young people, increasing their chance of beginning their professional career and of its further conscious development. Therefore, it constitutes an element of preparation for mobility and for implementation, in a few years, of an offer of double-degree programs and direct entry programs, which will enable the students to obtain a second diploma in a partner institution.

WSB promotes work placements abroad undertaking the following steps: publishing announcements, regulations and schedule of the recruitment on the student Extranet, student press and posters, publishing announcements on the homepage of the University, on  Facebook, disseminating information during language classes and by lecturers, organizing Information meetings.
